PART-TIME hairdresser and full-time mummy, Joanne Bratton from Ederney has little time for herself.

In fact the 25-year-old admits to feeling “guilty” when she manages to squeeze in any kind of pampering session.

But breaking with tradition, just this once, for this week’s Lifestyle section, she has had her hair done at Hair by Maeve and her make-up completed by Shauna McCrystal.

“I feel selfish and guilty and think of all the other things I could be doing with that time!” she says as she models a casual look of shorts from TopShop, a top from Exhibit and Converse shoes from Littlewoods.

Originally from Lack, Joanne has two boys, Kelvin, aged six and Travis, aged five.

“They are good for about 5 per cent of the day!” jokes the red-head.

As she wears a dress from Lipsy with shoes from Littlewoods, Joanne says life as a busy mum of two means she prefers to do her clothes shopping online.

“Being a mummy, I don’t have time to try anything on in the shops. I just get stressed out at having to try on clothes. Even before I had the boys I would have preferred to buy from catalogues.” Currently doing a placement at Headlines in Kesh, Joanne is planning to train as a DJ in the new year.

“It’s something I’ve wanted to do for years but there isn’t much round here to help you out,” she explains, “I plan to teach myself once I buy a kit but it would be great if anyone out there had a few tips!” She seems shy as she poses for the Lifestyle camera but Joanne reveals that growing up in a family of eight meant she had to learn to speak up to have her voice heard.

“I have three sisters and four brothers,” she says as she models a top from River Island, jeans from Exhibit, a scarf from ebay and shoes from Odeon.

“I grew up on the top of a mountain in Lack! And we only had each other to play with. People used to say I was so loud. But I had to be to be heard. I’m the second oldest in the family and I’m actually the most sensible out of everyone in the whole house!

“Christmas is a great time of the year for our family. Our main tradition is to go to granny Bratton’s before we get our dinner. That’s really the only time we would all be together throughout the year unless there is a special birthday or wedding. Because there are so many of us, it can be difficult to get everyone together at the one time!” Now that her sons are a little older, Joanne says she is beginning to reclaim some of her weekends as her own again.

“I like to go to the cinema or go out with friends the odd weekend,” she says, “I love going to Letterkenny but I don’t get very often.

“I had been going to the gym but I’ve lost all motivation now!” As she wears her final outfit, a top and trousers combination from Rocking Revival and shoes from The South by Littlewoods, Joanne says she is enjoying her placement in Kesh.

“I love going to work,” she says, “It doesn’t feel like work at all because I always have so much craic. But maybe that’s because I am used to being in the house with two children all day so any kind of adult conversation is great!”
