FRESH from his team's clinching the IFA championship title, Ballinamallard manager Whitey Anderson (@Whitey- Anderson1) was our Twitter Q&A guest last week.

The man who brought promotion to the Irish Premier League for Fermanagh for the first time spent an hour engaging in a lively question and answer session with readers on a range of topics, such as the future of his club, the quality of the players and the target for next year.

Asked by Patrick Murphy (@_MURPHY_ 12_) what footballer he would sign if he could, Whitey tweeted: "Has to be Messi".

Sean Paul Curry (@seanpaulcurry) asked: "With a team full of great players do you expect premier league clubs to try and sign some of them and will you make signings yourself?".

"Always be rumours of clubs looking at our players and we will certainly look at making a few signings ourselves," replied Whitey.

David Thompson (@DaveT349) asked him if he'll be swapping his tracksuit for the club blazer and tie in the dugout next season. "Premiership standards," he added.

Whitey tweeted back: "Don't have a shirt or tie these days, so it has to be the tracksuit".

In his message, Mark Cunningham (@markcham13) wrote: "Premiership clubs will surely have an eye on wing wizard Chris Curran, tell us how good this young man can be?" Responding, Whitey described the footballer as "an exceptional talent", adding: "He really showed that this season and hopefully he will be in premier league with us next season".

Sam Gamble (@OWC_Sam) asked him about the next level of progression for the club.

"If we get over final hurdles and into premier league, we as club need to review our overall approach from youth to senior level," he said.

Enda McBrien (@endamcbrien) tweeted: "Will you be looking to poach GAA players next season such as McCabe, McCluskey and Big Seamie (Quigley)?" "Both Shane and Ryan came to the club on Sat with bottle of champagne; maybe that was a taster for discussions," joked Whitey.

Keith Bailie (@Keith192) asked: "Will you be bringing in many new players in the summer, or sticking with current squad?" "We would have to add a few but how many, I am not sure as yet. Have a good nucleus of young players at minute," he said.

Darwin Allen (@Darwin_Allen) tweeted: "What influence do you feel other local clubs in the Fermanagh and Western have brought to the current success of Ballinamallard?" He responded: "Nearly every club in F&W 1st division has provided the club with players in my tenure. Good influence, yes".

Toms Corrigan (@tcorrigan714) tweeted: "Swanlinbar has a rich tradition of producing soccer stars. Will Mallards look to tap more in to this pool next year?" "If you know of any more like Chris Curran let me know ASAP," replied Whitey.

Leggy (@shanereavey) asked: "What do you think is the main component to your success as a manager? Spirit, ability, attitude or other?" "For a start good quality players and great backroom team. Team spirit has been incredible," he said.

Barrie McWhinney (@BarrieMcWhinney) tweeted: "Is the club doing anything to promote the involvement of people with disabilities in sport?" "Club had a two year programme a few years ago but due to lack of resources fell by wayside. Needs to be reviewed".

A follow-up tweet from @Ballinamallard in relation to this confirmed the club have recently updated and fully compliant Child Protection Policy.

Asked by Arron Lemon (@Arronlemon13) if he thought the quality of the surface had a lot to do with the success, Whitey replied: "Without doubt; won't be a better surface in premier league next season".

Sinn Fein MLA Phil Flanagan (@Phil-Flanagan) tweeted: "What's the target for next year? Well done on success to date. @Ballinamallard are great ambassadors for the county".

"Without being negative surviving the premiership is the minimum target next season," he replied.

Asked by Paddy McCurry (@paddy_mccurry) for his biggest achievement to date as manager, Whitey tweeted: "Saturday at 4.55 without a shadow of a doubt!"
