A 43-year-old man charged with four drugs offences following the seizure of cannabis with an estimated street value of around £76,000 from a vehicle stopped by police in the Tamlaght area last Wednesday, is to appear in Fermanagh Magistrates Court two weeks.

Jiang Ze Yong appeared at Dungannon Magistrates Court on Friday and was remanded in custody to prison at Maghaberry. His case was adjourned until this morning, when he will appear via video link at Enniskillen magistrates court.

Yong, with an address at Main Street, Larne, was charged with two counts of posessing a class B drug (cannabis); one count of posessing a class B drug (cannabis) with intent to supply; and one count of posessing a class A drug (cocaine).

Police stopped Yong's vehicle on the Belfast Road at Tamlaght around 3pm last Wednesday as part of a wider investigation into the activities of what they believe is an organised criminal gang operating in Northern Ireland. In the car, they found herbal cannabis worth £76,000.

Detective Inspector Tom McClure from Reactive and Organised Crime Branch said: "The cannabis, which we estimate to have a street value of approx. £76,000 was located inside the car along with a small quantity of class A drugs believed to be cocaine.

"A house in Claremount Street in Belfast has also now been searched and a number of items have been seized for examination.

"We will continue to carry out proactive search and arrest operations like this one as part of our ongoing efforts to dismantle the infrastructure of those organised crime gangs who try to ply their evil drugs trade in Northern Ireland.

"All information from the public is helpful and anyone who believes they may have information about the sale or supply of illegal drugs can contact police on 101 or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
