Last Saturday, July 23, was the launch date for “Hector And The Magic Detector,” the first book by Enniskillen children’s author John Gilmore and Enniskillen illustrator Gráinne Knox.

“As the title would suggest it is a fantastical and magical adventure which is written totally in rhyme,” mentions John.

“After a strange object crashes through a little boy called Hector’s bedroom window he is whisked off on a fun and colourful journey by The Magic Detector Inspector,” explains the author, adding that “the pair encounter many bizarre and humorous characters along the way before the true secret behind The Magic Detector is revealed.”

He believes the book is ideal for a parent to read to a younger child and also for independent reading by slightly older children. “It has the added bonus that it may be coloured in too,” he said.

Last week, he proposed “if you’re young or young at heart" to come along to the Buttermarket in Enniskillen last Saturday, July 23, where the book launch was being held at The Collage Collective.

There was a book reading and book signing by the author John Gilmore. Gráinne Knox, the illustrator, also did a book signing.

The book is currently available at the Collage Collective, a local art and craft shop and gallery in the Buttermarket. It is also available on the Amazon bookstore and Waterstones bookshop.
