WITH streets full of thousands of smiling faces, the organisers of the Lady of the Lake Festival are this week “very thankful” that the annual event was another roaring success.
From fancy dress parades to vintage parades, wacky contests to charitable endeavours, the Irvinestown festival had something for everyone. There was the hole digging contest, the procession of old tractors, the lights show, the Goat Lookalike Contest and the annual truck convoy featuring 384 lorries in aid of Marie Curie and much more.
“It brings out the heart of the community every year,” said Joe Mahon, one of the organisers.
“One person said to me that only for the festival there would be grass growing up the middle of Irvinestown. It means a lot when you see people enjoying themselves and we are very thankful for that,” said Mr. Mahon.
