A TALENTED Fermanagh musician has written and recorded his own festive song to raise money for a local cancer charity this Christmas.

Stephen Brennan (24), who is originally from Boho, wrote the track, called 'Lonely Christmas Tree', with the help of his bandmates, vocalist Mahalia De Perkins and bassist Niall McLoughlin.

The trio have been making music together since meeting in Dublin in 2013.

All the money they make from the song will be going straight to Cancer Connect NI.

Speaking to the Impartial Reporter this week, Stephen said: “Cancer Connect is a charity that I really believe in as they gave my dad amazing support when he was suffering from cancer.

“Through this fundraiser I want to try and return some of the support that they offered my family in our time of need.”

Stephen, Mahalia and Niall are aiming to raise as close to £500 as possible for the charity by midnight on Christmas Eve.

The song is available as a free download, but Stephen is asking anyone who likes what they hear to give a contribution towards their fundraising campaign.

He said: “Cancer Connect NI are a charity that do fantastic work and provide vital care to those families who are affected by cancer.

They provide medical equipment to sufferers of cancer and also provide counselling services.”

Raised in Boho, Stephen, a former pupil of Erne Integrated College, has been playing guitar for nearly 10 years.

While studying engineering at Trinity College in Dublin, he was the President of the university's Jazz Society and played gigs with many different bands.

Since graduating, Stephen has started working for Intel as an electronic engineer, but still plays a lot of music on the side.
