FERMANAGH Film Club is celebrating the start of the New Year with a special screening of an acclaimed thriller which is set in Belfast.

In the elegantly structured and shrewdly tense 'A Patch of Fog', a celebrated novelist and TV personality, Sandy Duffy, finds his reputation on the line when he is caught shoplifting by lonely security guard Robert, intent on becoming his friend for life.

The film stars Conleth Hill, best known for his role as spymaster Lord Varys in Game of Thrones, and Stephen Graham, who had prominent roles in This is England and Boardwalk Empire.

It is the debut feature from County Antrim man Michael Lennox, who directed the Oscar-nominated short Boogaloo and Graham, which was produced by Fermanagh's Brian J. Falconer.

'A Patch of Fog', which is rich on atmosphere and intrigue, was filmed in Belfast over December 2014.

The special screening is taking place in the local film club's new venue of Fermanagh House on Wednesday, January 4, starting at 8pm.

It will be followed by a question-and-answer session with the writers of the film, John Cairns and Michael McCartney.

The duo were nominated in the Debut Screenwriter category at the 2016 British Independent Film Awards for their work on 'A Patch of Fog'.

However, they lost out to Rachel Tunnard, who wrote and directed the acclaimed British comedy, Adult Life Skills.

Admission to the screening and Q&A will cost £5 for adults and £3 for students.

“Everyone is welcome,” a spokesperson for Fermanagh Film Club said.
