Michelle Gildernew has been selected by Sinn Fein to contest next month’s snap general election in Fermanagh-south Tyrone.
The Assembly Member will be attempting to win back the seat she lost to Ulster Unionist MP Tom Elliott in 2015 by less than 600 votes.
The constituency has produced many nail biting election results.
During the 2010 election Ms Gildernew, a former Stormont Minister, won the seat by just four votes against former Fermanagh District Council Chief Executive Rodney Connor.
Tweeting following the selection convention last week, Ms. Gildernew said she was “humbled and honoured” to “contest this historic seat.”
Meanwhile, the Alliance Party’s Noreen Campbell has been endorsed by the Tyrone and Fermanagh Alliance Association to contest her second in election this year.
The former teacher stood unsuccessfully in the Assembly election in March.
