A “VERY beautiful” mother-of-one tragically killed in a road collision between Fivemiletown and Clogher last week was laid to rest on Wednesday afternoon.

Amanda Joan Kelly (née Little), an employee of Scott’s Bakery in Fivemiletown, was the driver of a BMW car that collided with an articulated lorry on Ballagh Road shortly after 6am on Friday, June 9.

The male driver of the lorry was physically unhurt, the PSNI confirmed after the accident.

A devoted wife to agricultural contractor Emmett, the couple were married on New Year’s Eve, less than six months ago.

They lived on Corick Road, Augher with young son Jack.

At the annual parade of Cavanaleck Pipe Band in Fivemiletown on Saturday, June 10, a lone piper played a lament in memory of Mrs. Kelly and also Rev. Roy Campbell, Minister of Clogher and Glenhoy Presbyterian Churches, who died unexpectedly recently.

This was followed by a minute’s silence, impeccably observed by the crowd gathered in the centre of the town.

A funeral service for Mrs. Kelly was held in St. John’s Parish Church, Fivemiletown on Wednesday afternoon, with interment afterwards in the adjoining graveyard.

Speaking on Tuesday, Canon Rev. Kyle Hanlon, rector of Fivemiletown with Kiltermon, paid tribute to a “very beautiful” person who was interested in the church’s life, but also in the many friendships that she had.

Canon Hanlon said that Amanda came from a very well-known family and had been baptised and confirmed at St. John’s.

He said that the church community had been “very privileged” to take part in her marriage last year on New Year’s Eve.

The minister said that Amanda had been very committed to her family, and had a strong bond with her parents Andrew and Wendy, and siblings.
He added that she was also very much loved by her husband’s family.

Canon Hanlon said the funeral service would give him an opportunity to express the deepest sympathy to Amanda’s family on behalf of the Church of Ireland community in Fivemiletown and offer every support to her husband and family at this time.

“We will offer prayerful support and encouragement to them in the months ahead,” he added.
