Anne Love, Volunteer and Work Experience Manager for the Western Health and Social Care Trust, was recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List, which was announced recently.

She receives the MBE, Member of the Order of the British Empire “for services to the community in Northern Ireland.”

Anne, who is from Limavady, has spent 38 years working in the health service; all of those years have been in the West.

She says she has a lot of good friends throughout Fermanagh. She acknowledged there are “lots of wonderful volunteers from the local Fermanagh community” and that she works with them very closely. “We get a massive contribution from the Fermanagh community,” she said.

Volunteer and Work Experience Manager for the Western Trust, she said that she has been doing that for 12 years. “We have very good links with our local educators,” added Anne. 

On hearing the news that she is to receive the MBE, she said was “delighted, humbled and honoured”. That really is how she would sum it up, she said. 

She admitted it was a bit of a shock, and that it was not expected, but she is delighted.

The Chief Executive of the Western Health and Social Care Trust, Elaine Way has extended her warmest congratulations to Anne on her much deserved recognition in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.

Paying tribute to Anne, Elaine Way said: “For as long as I have known her, Anne has acted with such passion and motivation, inspiring others to get involved in volunteering. 

“Throughout her work she has made such a positive impact not only on her volunteers but for the benefit of our patients and clients. This award is a fitting tribute to her many years of public service.”
