Armagh 0-20 Fermanagh 0-11 Fermanagh's season came to an end at the Athletic Grounds tonight as they lost by nine points to a physically stronger and more cohesive Armagh side.

Fermanagh did enjoy a good spell in the first half when they turned a two point deficit into a three point lead but Armagh got on top towards the end of the first half to go in with a 0-8 to 0-6 lead and they dominated matters in the second half to ease to a 0-20 to 0-11 victory.

Armagh were quickly off the mark with Andrew Murnin clipping over from play and Rory Grugan landing a free but the Orchard were wasteful in the first half with Kieran McGeeney's men registering nine wides in the first 35 minutes.

Indeed, Fermanagh while living off less possession, were to land the next five points of the game to open up a three point lead.

Tomás Corrigan knocked over a sixth minute free to get McGrath's men up and running and he added another two frees, including a wonderful effort from the right hand side line while Ryan Lyons and Eoin Donnelly fired over points from play to make it 0-05 to 0-02 with 22 minutes gone.

Armagh though enjoyed the better of things over the final spell of the half as they started to find their range in front of goal.

Murnin ended a 20 minute spell without a score by slotting over his second of the game and this was followed by a terrific point from play from Jamie Clarke, two Grugan frees and a Ciaran O'Hanlon point from play to make it 0-07 to 0-05 to the home side.

Corrigan closed the gap back to a point with a free but Armagh had the last say of the half as Grugan restored their two point advantage from a free to leave it 0-08 to 0-06 at the interval.

Fermanagh needed to get into their stride early in the second half but it was Armagh who were to go on and add to their lead as the impressive Niall Grimley banged over a fine point from play and then tagged on a free.

Corrigan did clip over a free is response but Fermanagh were struggling to deal with Armagh's physicality and when Grimley and Grugan knocked over frees it stretched the lead to six, 0-13 to 0-7.

Any chance Fermanagh had disappeared with the dismissal of captain Eoin Donnelly with the captain picking up two yellows in the space of three minutes.

In fairness to Fermanagh, the 14 men dug deep and Sean Quigley, who was introduced in the second half after being left out of the starting side, landed two points to cut the back to four.

The sides shared the next four points with Grimley and Clarke on target for Armagh before Corrigan and Lyons replied, but Armagh were to register the final five points of the game with Stefan Campbell, Grimley and Ethan Rafferty all firing over points to leave the Orchard men comfortable winners at the final whistle.
