Fermanagh Juniors 2 Man United 4

The Fermanagh junior team lit up the Super Cup NI on Tuesday with a superb, battling performance against the might of Manchester United in Ballymena on Tuesday evening.

Denzil McDaniel's young charges had United worried with the game deadlocked at 2-2 entering the final ten minutes but the Manchester giants found that little bit extra to bag two late goals to win 4-2 and take the points.

This, though, was a cracking effort from the Fermanagh lads.

United had taken the lead in the 21st minute, getting in behind to slot past Nathan Copeland in the Fermanagh goal.

The Fermanagh equaliser came after a Micheal Glynn free kick was only parried by the United keeper and striker Eimhin Curran pounced to cancel out the United opener.

This left the game tied at 1-1 at half-time.

Matters did not look good when the Red Devils retook the lead within two minutes of the restart but the Fermanagh resolve was quickly to the fore again as they equalised within a minute.

Again, Curran was the hero as he chased down the ball and bundled it over the line for 2-2 and it was game on again.

The Juniors gave everything against their illustrious opponents but the Old Trafford lads took the lead for a third time when heading home from a corner kick with nine minutes remaining.

Harshly on the Fermanagh side, United added a fourth in the final minute, slotting home adeptly for 4-2
