The annual Christmas sit-out in Ballinamallard is planned for Wednesday, December 20 from 8am to 8pm.
This is sixth year that Archdeacon Brian Harper, Rector of Magheracross Parish Church will do his sit-out and he will be accompanied again this year by the Minister of Ballinamallard Methodist Church, the Rev. John Beacom.
The event has been a tremendous success and has raised in the region of £4,000 every year and the Archdeacon is hopeful that it will be just as successful as other years.
This year the donations will be forwarded to Abaana Children’s Choir who visited Magheracross Parish Church during the year and the Air Ambulance Service.
Archdeacon Harper explained: “I was inspired in the first instance by the Belfast Black Santa and the need for the Church to be seen to be doing something at Christmas. The support of the community has been excellent throughout the years and it has proved very popular. We are teaming up again with the Methodist Church and again that sends out the right message at this time of year. It is also a great opportunity to meet people and we will be collecting donations and chatting to anyone passing from 8.00am to 8.00pm on the December 20,” concluded Archdeacon Harper who said that so far they have been lucky with the weather although a strong wind did lift their gazebo one year.
Donations can also be made at the Church for anyone who is not in Ballinamallard on the day.
