A 41-year-old convicted sex offender appeared at Dungannon Magistrates Court last Friday, charged in relation to the burglary of two churches in Fivemiletown last week.

Abraham Jakobovits, with an address at Fortwilliam Gardens, Belfast, was charged with breaking into Clogher Valley Free Presbyterian Church and stealing a Sony Camcorder and approximately £500 in coins at some time between between December 19 and 20.

He was also charged with criminal damage to a tea towel belonging to Clogher Valley Free Presbyterian Church.

He was further charged, on the same dates, with breaking in to St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church with intent to do damage.

Jakobovits had failed to notify police of a satisfactory address within three days of October 11, 2017 and was charged with being in contravention of the Sexual Offences Act 2003.

Bail was not fixed and he was remanded in custody, to appear on January 17.
