The late Caroline McCartney, a popular figure in the Enniskillen community, was laid to rest on Friday afternoon.

Alongside her husband, the late Raymond, Mrs. McCartney was highly regarded for her role as a hotelier in Fermanagh. 

The McCartney's had previously owned several hospitality businesses in Fermanagh including the Lough Erne Hotel, Kesh; The Killyhevlin Hotel, Enniskillen and the Belmore Court and Motel, which is now owned and operated by son, Terry. 

In a tribute to Mrs. McCartney, the staff of Belmore Court and Motel formed a guard of honour outside the motel as her final journey took place.

Paying tribute to his mother, on behalf of the family,  Terry McCartney described his beloved mum as a “matriarch” of the family.

“Dad would have been very much the frontman. She was a solid foundation behind him. So whatever he was involved in, Mum was always by his side.

“She was very social, she very much stayed out of the limelight, although she was very much of a shining star in her own right.

Her funeral took place on Friday afternoon at Rossorry Parish Church and her burial took place in the adjoining churchyard. 

Mrs. McCartney is survived by her children: Jayne and Terry (Mary), her five grandchildren: Christopher, Meagan, Rosie, Lewis and Ellie and her sisters, Evelyn and Norma Mrs. McCartney was predeceased by her husband Raymond and her sisters: Reenie Hazel and Sandra.

Funeral arrangements will be carried out by Marcus Madill Funeral Directors.
