Pedigree Charolais cattle met a solid demand with 73 bulls selling to an average of £5085 and peaking at 13,000gns and eight heifers in the female section averaged £4620 to a top price of 8,200gns at the Carlisle Spring Charolais sale when the intermediate male champion, Ratoary Icebreaker ET TI +49 SRI +48 was the first of two lots to sell for 10,000gns. The 19-month-old Oldstone Egbert son was purchased by Gilbert Crawford, Maghera, Co Derry from exhibitor Sean McGovern, Clogher, Co Tyrone.

The same vendor also sold the reserve supreme champion, Ratoary Irishman ET TI +53 SRI +48 for 9,500gns. This 20-month-old had previously gained accolades in the show ring including RUAS reserve junior champion and Bank of Ireland Interbreed Bull Derby Champion. Irishman who is sired by the 13,000gns Conval Frank was purchased by SI & LJ Evans, Swansea, West Glamorgan.

The sale leader was the 18-month-old Dingle Hofmeister son Goldies Iceman TI +62 SRI +57 who was knocked down for 13,000gns. Exhibited by Hamish Goldie, Ruthwell, Dumfries-shire, and out of a homebred dam going back to Goldies Uppermost, he was purchased by W & J Causey, Cookstown..

Three bulls sold for 7,000gns. One of them was from D.E. Evans, Mold, Flintshire who sold the 16-month-old junior male champion Maerdy Jamaica TI +52 SRI +39 by Maerdy Dynamite who was jointly purchased by A Quigley, Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh and W Short, Beragh, Co Tyrone.
