A well-known and highly regarded businessman in Fermanagh, Mr. James Edmund Crozier, best known as Jimmy, passed away on January 5, 2016.
Born on February 15, 1951, he was the second child of the late Teddy and May Crozier, formerly of Baragh House, Ballinamallard. He is survived by his brothers Mark and Roy and sister Barbara.
Jimmy was predeceased by his elder half brothers Walter and Noel Beatty, both of whom he was very close to. He was educated at the old Ballinamallard Primary School on Baragh Road, followed by Portora Royal School, Enniskillen, and then Enniskillen Technical College.
On completing his education at Enniskillen Tech., he went to Loughry Agriculture College, where he obtained a Diploma in Agriculture.
On leaving Loughry, he took up employment with the Ministry of Agriculture and was attached to the AI Division, working at Riversdale, Ballinamallard. Whilst working for the AI, he also assisted his late father with the running of the farm at Baragh.
James inherited his father’s farm and later decided on a career change selling the farm and purchasing the Mallard Bar in Ballinamallard which had been owned previously by his late mother. He later sold the Mallard Bar and after a short sabbatical purchased the Railway Hotel in Belmore Street, Enniskillen with his business partner Owen McKenna on September 10, 1999. The hotel closed in the summer of 2015 due to Jimmy and Owen’s illnesses. It has recently been sold.
James loved reading history and recently took a great interest in the history of the Easter Rising and the Battle of the Somme. He was also a fan of Operatic Music and loved to listen to Andre Rieu and The Last Night at the Proms. He took great pride in his culinary skills.
He had a great love for all equine sports and he held a love of horses. Jimmy and a number of close friends formed a small syndicate who bred a number of successful horses.
He was a very active member of the Masonic Order:- Member of Kipling Newporton Lodge, Ballinamallard; Royal Arch Chapter, Trillick and Omagh Preceptory Knight Masons.
Jimmy was actively involved in Ballinamallard United Football Club; he became an original Life Member and acted as the Club’s Treasurer for a number of years James had a sharp business acumen and possessed a dry, witty sense of humour. He was a man of total probity highly respected by all sections of the community. His word was his bond and he would say ‘if you can’t do a person a good turn don’t do them a bad turn.’
Throughout his illness he had the support of a first class medical team and team of carers, to whom the family are very thankful. 
Jimmy’s funeral service, conducted by Canon Brian Harper, took place in Magheracross Parish Church, Ballinamallard on January 7, 2016, followed by burial in Sydare Cemetery.
Jimmy is survived by his brothers, Mark and Roy Crozier, his sister Barbara and his partner Yvonne. He was predeceased by his elder half brothers Walter and Noel Beatty. The funeral arrangements were by Funeral Directors, S.R. Elliott and Sons.
