A native of Enniskillen, Mrs. Norma Montgomery passed away peacefully at her home in Rockgrove Valley, Ballymena, on March 26, 2014.

Prior to her marriage to the late Edmond (Monty) Montgomery, Norma lived with her parents Joseph and Sadie McKeown, brothers Desmond and Alec and sister Marion.

After completing her education at Enniskillen Model School and the then Technical School, she was employed at Tyler’s Shop, Townhall Street, Enniskillen, and later moved to Taylor Woods, Derrychara, Enniskillen.

A keen table tennis player, Norma won many tournaments both for Taylor Woods and the County. She had also been a member of the local Cycling Club and travelled far and wide throughout Ireland.

In the late fifties, Norma was chosen as Miss R.A.F.A. and competed in the final in Belfast, where one of the judges was the singer, David Whitfield.

In 1958, she married Edmond (Monty) Montgomery in Enniskillen Methodist Church, and then moved to live in Belfast and later to Dungannon and finally Ballymena. Norma continued her love of sport and was a member of Ballymena Golf Club, where she won many competitions. She was a wonderful mother and sister who devoted her time to her family and friends, of whom she had many.

Having been predeceased by her husband Monty in 2001, Norma is survived by her daughters Janet (Mrs. Lynne), Marion (Mrs. Sharpe), son Brian, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Ballymena. She also leaves her sister Marion (Mrs. Ryan) and her brother Alec McKeown, Enniskillen.
