The community received a severe shock by the sudden death of Mrs. Annie Eleanor Cashel at her Tempo home on Wednesday, August 27, 2014.
Annie was the wife of the late Mr. Thomas Cashel, Drumackin, Tempo. Remembered as one of nature’s ladies, no matter how exacting life may have been, she met everyone with a smile and a cheery word.
A loving mother and affectionate grandmother, she will be dearly missed. Annie was a native of Cullentra, Fivemiletown; she was the daughter of the late George Edward and Beatrice Vera Gladys Maguire, and sister of George Maguire. She attended the local school, and on leaving worked as a dinner lady at Fivemiletown High School and then as a telephone operator.
On January 25, 1966, she married Thomas Cashel, a son of the late Robert and Margaret Cashel, Drumackin. They were blessed with three sons and two daughters - Sandra, David, Thomas, Alan and Vera. Home and family were very important to Annie and she adored her seven grandchildren.
She was devoted to her brother-in-law Bobbie and he has many happy memories. They enjoyed visiting family and friends. She was a kind neighbour and loyal friend. The kettle was always at the ready and tea was a must. Such was her warm hospitality, no-one could leave the house without a cup of tea.
Annie was a faithful, regular member of Tempo Parish Church and thoroughly enjoyed the church concerts, barbeques and other events.
Her funeral was widely attended, reflecting the esteem in which Annie was held. The service was led by the Rev. Canon Armstrong.
Annie is survived by her sorrowing sons, David, Thomas and Alan, and daughters Sandra and Vera and their families, and also her brother-in-law Bobbie.
She was predeceased by her husband Thomas six years ago.
