Enjoying your chocolate egg but don't know what to do with the packaging? Fermanagh District Council wants consumers to do their bit for the environment by recycling Easter egg packaging.
Each year a considerable amount of extra card and plastic waste is generated from Easter egg packaging during the holiday period.
This Easter, the Council is reminding householders that Easter egg packaging is recyclable and that it should be placed in their blue bin at home or brought to one of the Council’s 11 recycling centres. Packaging should be separated before being placed in the bin.
Cardboard, cans, tins, plastic bottles and containers, newspapers, glossy magazines and tetra pak cartons can all be placed in the blue bin.
Items including nappies, plastic bags and food should never be placed in the blue bin as it contaminates the recyclable waste and the Council is penalised financially.
To check what materials can be placed in your household blue bin, visit www.fermanagh.gov.uk/recycle or contact the Council’s Technical Services department by telephoning 028 6632 3533.
