A 39-year-old driver has been fined £250 and had six penalty points endorsed on his licence after his car insurance was cancelled while he was working abroad.
Wojciech Kleinschmidt, of Moyletra Gardens, Enniskillen, admitted driving without insurance.
A prosecutor told Fermanagh Court that on Saturday, February 15, police stopped Kleinschmidt driving a Vauxhall Zafira on the Derrychara Road at Enniskillen. He did not have insurance with him and was given seven days to produce it at Enniskillen Police Station. It subsequently emerged that the policy had been cancelled and was not valid for the day he was stopped.
Defence solicitor David Buchanan said Kleinschmidt had been working abroad for a period prior to this. A problem arose with his direct debit payments of the insurance premium while he was out of the country and he had not been notified the policy was no longer valid. When he was stopped by the police he immediately rectified the position.
