A nineteenth century grave stone, marking the grave of the parents of the ‘last prince of Fermanagh’ on Devenish Island has been damaged by fire.
Roy Robinson said: "The fire causing the flat stone to crack in several places, resulting in the destruction of most of the transcription. If you can help Police with their enquiries, please call the 101 number, quoting reference 490261114. Alternatively call the confidential Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.” The news has prompted a shocked and angry reaction from Fermanagh residents on Fermangh PSNI's facebook page, with locals voicing their "love" for the sixth century monastic site.
