Fermanagh secured promotion to Division Two and set up a league final meeting with Armagh following a 1-12 to 0-07 victory over Wexford at Innovate Wexford Park today.

A Sean Quigley penalty at the end of the first half was the crucial score of the game as it gave Fermanagh a five point cushion playing against the breeze in the second half.

And a fine performance after the break saw Pete McGrath's side dominate matters to seal their place in Division Two next season.

Fermanagh had the advantage of a strong breeze in the first half and Sean Quigley opened the scoring from a free.

However, Pete McGrath's side were sloppy in possession in the early stages and two points from tricky Wexford full forward Ciaran Lyng, one from play and one from a free, had the home side in front after eight minutes.

Fermanagh though did settle to the job after this although they found Wexford hard to breakdown.

A patient build up by the away side resulted in Tomas Corrigan registering their second point while Quigley then tagged on a free to nudge the Ernemen back in front.

When Barry Mulrone landed a long range point and Ryan Jones lofted over a further score it put Fermanagh three ahead but Wexford hit back and a well worked Ben Brosnan point left two in it as half time approached.

The key score of the half though arrived in added on time. Marty O'Brien's ball to the back post was contested by Quigley and when Paul McCusker picked up the breaking ball he was upended by goalkeeper Shane Roche leaving referee Derek Fahy no option but to give a penalty.

And Quigley stepped up to calmly slot to the back of the net as Fermanagh went in with a five point lead at the interval, 1-5 to 0-3.

Against the breeze, Fermanagh utilised their running game to great affect in the second half.

The sides traded the opening four points of the second half with Kevin O'Grady and Tiernan Rossiter on target for Wexford while Quigley and Ciaran Flaherty knocked over for Fermanagh.

Fermanagh though then rattled off the next three points to move eight clear and they never looked in any danger thereafter.

Eoin Donnelly, Mulrone and Tomas Corrigan contributed the points at that stage to make it 1-10 to 0-05 and at this point Fermanagh were in firm control.

Eoghan Nolan and Ryan Jones swapped points before Quigley lobbed over a free to make it 1-12 to 0-06.

Wexford did register the last score of the gamer through John Tubritt but this was merely as consolation point as Fermanagh ran out eight point victors.
