The memory of a special Fermanagh boy will be kept alive at a Family Fun Day in Pettigo this Saturday afternoon, April 18.

The Termon Complex is the venue for the event, organised by family and friends in memory of Eoin Moss, who would have celebrated his seventh birthday on Saturday.

All proceeds will be in aid of the Children’s Ward at South West Acute Hospital and Horizon West Children’s Hospice at Killadeas.

Eoin, who had Cerebral Palsy, passed away unexpectedly on December 16, last year. Much shock and sadness were expressed following the passing of the child, who made a great impact on many people during his short life.

The son of Pauric and Fiona Moss, who also have a younger son Oisin, the much loved youngster, of Pettigo Road, Kesh, always “had a smile on his face.” He loved his school, Willowbridge in Enniskillen, where he was also held in high regard as an “extremely precious” pupil.

In a tribute to her son, following his death, his mother said he “loved cuddles” and she highlighted that “he always had a smile on his face.” Speaking this week, she admitted they are “very lonely without him” and the house is very quiet.

Preparing for Saturday’s Fun Day, she said the family felt it was “something positive” and it was an event to keep Eoin’s memory alive.

“Each year the family would have arranged a fundraiser for a chosen cause,” indicated Fiona, who added: “We always had a birthday party for Eoin every year.” And she said this year they decided to still have a party and organise it for the two chosen beneficiaries, which they felt were worthy causes.

“Both gave us a lot of support during Eoin’s life,” acknowledged Fiona, who will be joined on Saturday by family and friends. Families who have used the Hospice are coming along as well, she said.

The Family Fun Day, which is open to everyone and will run from 12 noon to 5pm, promises a feast of entertainment, including bouncy castles, face and nail painting, balloon modelling, a disco, popular cartoon characters, Tickety Moo icecream and other attractions.
