Rangers boss Michael Kerr was disappointed to leave Killen empty handed on Saturday. Kerr was among the goals as his side came from two down at half time to level the game but the comeback was to prove fruitless as Graham Young fired home a winner five minutes from time for the home side.

“I'm very disappointed not to take at least a point from the game after coming from 2-0 down at half time,” said Kerr. “ I felt that we started the game really well and had Killen on the backfoot but just couldn't get that first goal. Even going in at half time I knew we weren't beaten, it was just a matter of still doing the right things and the chances and goals would come. When we got the first the momentum was with us and then Wee James took his goal brilliantly and at that point we were pushing and well on top. In fairness their lad hit a quality free kick worthy of winning the game and it just wasn't to be.”

The 'Gers started the game in a lively fashion with captain William Burleigh going close with a volleyed effort.

However as the half wore on Killen came more into it and they were to take the lead in the 20th minute when Young's attempt at a cross evaded everybody including Rangers goalkeeper Adam McDonald and nestled in the back of the net.

It got worse for Rangers soon after as they fell further behind as McDonald had pulled off a fine save from Jamie Sproule only for the rebound to fall to Andy Crawford who tapped home.

The away side brought on Michael Dooris and Niall Wallace at the break with both making a positive impact although Dooris did waste a couple of early chances to get the 'Gers back into the game.

However, the visitors were back in the game when player-manager Kerr thumped a superb free kick into the top corner for 2-1.

And Rangers were level when Dooris teed up James Turley who clipped it over goalkeeper Paddy Morrison for 2-2.

At this stage the momentum was with Rangers but it was Killen who were to go on and take the points as Young drilled a free kick over the wall and beyond McDonald to give his side the win.
