Ederney 2-07
Roslea 2-10

Ederney slipped to their second defeat of the season and in the process parted ways with their manager, Pascal McConnell.
Although there was no official comment from the St Joseph’s club it is understood that the players were informed of McConnell’s decision to stand down on Tuesday night at training.
McConnell’s assistant manager and Ederney clubman Aiden Gilroy will take over the reins until the end of the season.
The game against Roslea was one that Ederney will be kicking themselves that they allowed to slip through their fingers with the Shamrocks landing 1-04 without reply in the final ten minutes to secure the win. From Roslea’s perspective this was a big victory and saw them bounce back from an opening day defeat at home to Irvinestown.
Ruairi McGuinness was in fine form for the winners throughout the game and he was to be tormentor in chief of the Ederney rearguard who failed to get a handle on his excellent play over the course of the hour. Connor Quigley meanwhile was a driving force in defence with both his experience and driving runs factors in this important win for his side.
At half time the teams were all square with Ederney plundering two goals in that opening 30 minutes. Marty McGrath and a fortunate strike from Mark Kelly providing the three pointers for the home side.
The impressive McGuinness had scored a well taken goal for the visitors and also clipped over a point with Daniel Mohan also scoring a point to ensure the teams were all square at the break.
Points for Ederney had been supplied from the reliable boot of Enda Ferris who was to emerge with all but one of his side’s points. Ferris is slowly working his way to full fitness and he will be another attacking threat should Gilroy be able to coax out the full extent of his mercurial talent.
Ferris supplied the first four points of the second half as Roslea were left reeling upon the resumption and with 15 minutes to play and with a four point advantage it looked like the home side were on their way to the win.
Roslea had other ideas however and they showed admirable fight to assert control of the game and spring what looked like an unlikely win. Ederney’s cause was not helped by the sending off of McGrath but to place too much of an emphasis on this fact would be doing a disservice to Roslea who exerted all the pressure in the final ten minutes of the game to hit 1-04 without reply to take the win by three points.
Niall Cosgrove, who has become one of the most vital members of this Roslea team, pounced for the vital goal along with a neat point and the Shamrocks had other points from Diarmuid McAleer and Shane McMahon.
This may have been a starred game while Roslea were also without the services of Seamus Quigley but the Shamrocks demonstrated that they are far farrow a spent force and with all their players on board will still have and lot to say as to where any trophies might reside at the end of the year.
Ederney meanwhile must pick themselves up from back to back defeat and the loss of their manager.
Speaking to the Reporter on Tuesday night mew boss Gilroy stated that he was focusing on this weekend’s double header;
“I know that the management and players are looking forward to the two games and this is a big weekend in the context of our season but there is also a long way to go as well,” he explained.
The 34 year old Ederney native was involved with Tempo’s management team last year while he was also part of Iggy Gallagher’s set up when the Trillick man was over Ederney. “I have great trust in the players,” Gilroy revealed. He added: “While we know both games this weekend will be difficult it is true to say that every game in division one will be difficult but as I said we are looking forward to the challenge ahead.”
