The second leg of Ballinamallard's relegation/promotion play off against Institute has been postponed as a precaution with NIFL set to look into Carrick manager Gary Haveron allegedly being in the dug out during a game that he was meant to be suspended.

The Mallards have a 2-1 advantage to take into the second leg at Ferney Park but there is now doubt over whether that game will go ahead.

Haveron was sent off in the 4-3 win over Crusaders and sat out the subsequent games against Glentoran, Ballymena and Portadown. However, the ban did not apply to the Ballymena game, instead he should have missed the Dungannon game on April 23, a game Carrick won 3-1.

Irish FA rules state that a player or manager failing to serve a suspension will be a £350 fine for the club and the forfeiting of the match, 3-0.

If this is the case it would have implications for a number of clubs. Ballinamallard would be safe as Carrick would be relegated if they lost the points from that game while Warrenpoint would be in the play-off.

The statement from NIFL read: "The NIFL Premiership Fixtures Sub Committee met today to consider information received regarding eligibility matters and agreed, as a precaution, to postpone tomorrow's Ballinamallard United v Institute play-off second leg until guidance requested from the IFA has been received."
