The Erne Boxing Club’s quest for a National Title was achieved in great fashion with the talented Kaci Crowley scoring three impressive wins in the National Stadium, Dublin last week to earn the Girl 1 (Under 12’s) 44kgs crown.
With both Provincial finalists gaining qualification for the National Finals the draw was unkind pitting the two Ulster representatives against each other in the quarter-finals and once again Kaci Crowley had a tricky assignment against her previous Ulster final foe Clodagh McGonagle (Carndonagh BC).
However, Kaci Crowley put on a dominant display landing with the better punches throughout and won all three rounds against her Donegal opponent to collect a clear and deserved unanimous points decision and progress to the semi-finals.
In the semi-final Kaci Crowley was pitted against Leinster champion Alex Kinahan (Birr BC) and made very light work of her opponent.
Crowley made a quick start forcing her opponent onto the back foot and after a sustained barrage of punches the referee administered a count and then promptly called a halt to the one-sided contest.
In the final Kaci Crowley met Munster champion Cori Gleeson (Thurles BC) and boxed extremely well behind the jab and picked her shots with precision.
Crowley dominated the opener but had to overcome a spirited fightback from her game opponent in the latter two rounds.
However, all three judges gave all three rounds to the Erne favourite who deservedly won the National crown.
Erne Boxing Club coach and Kaci’s father Sean Crowley commented, “The whole club are extremely proud of Kaci and her achievements.
"She has worked immensely hard all year and really deserved this success for all the work she’s put in.
"It’s been a fantastic season for her having won three Ulster titles and been victorious in all eight matches this term.
"We just want to thank the club’s other coaches Jim Toye, Greg Copeland, Aidan Kelly and Sean Crudden as it really has been a team effort.
"After a string of National Final silver medals it’s great to be celebrating our third National Champion and hopefully this will be only the start of things to come.”
The Erne Boxing Club advise that there may be further success from this talented pugilist in the near future as Kaci Crowley is booked to box at the Bristol and Hull box cups in England next month.
The club also wish to advise that they are hosting a Quiz Night on Friday June10  in the Donn Carragh Hotel, Lisnaskea to raise funds jointly for the club and the Oisin McGrath Foundation.
There will be individual and team prizes on offer and the night is open to all (for more info please see the club’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/erneboxing).
