Whitey Anderson has hit out at Carrick Rangers and the Irish FA after watching Ballinamallard come through their Promotion/Relegation Play-Off encounter against Institute at Ferney Park on Wednesday night.

It took a goal deep into injury time in the second leg of the tie to see the Mallards secure their Premiership status, this game coming nearly seven weeks after the first leg due to the Gary Haveron suspension row.

Anderson was delighted for the club that they maintained their place in the top flight but he did not hold back with his criticism of the IFA and Carrick.

“I'm just delighted for everybody at the football club and I'm delighted for the players as they have been put through the grinder this last seven weeks, as have the Institute players.

“And I'll say it, it was brought about as a result of total and utter incompetence of Carrick Rangers as a football club, the inability of the Irish Football Association to have proper procedures in place to deal with disciplinary matters, not only in relation to the Carrick Rangers affair but the Portadown scenario.

“Clubs like ourselves, Institute and Warrenpoint are the innocent parties and I think the IFA's attitude to the Premiership is one of indifference. I think their processes are negligent and I think the people at the top table need to take a hard look at what they are doing for Irish League football.

“NIFL are an organisation under Andy Johnston who are trying their best to change things and I have a lot of respect for them although I still believe that behind the scenes that they could have done more in this scenario.

“However, being objective about it, it was probably a unique set of circumstances and it is easy just to have a rant at everybody” he stated.

Anderson was suspended from last night's game and has stepped down as Mallards boss with Gavin Dykes, who was in the dugout on Wednesday night, taking charge of the team for next season.
