Fivemiletown United start out on their Mid-Ulster Intermediate League campaign on Saturday with new manager Scott Robinson targeting a top four finish in his first season with the club.
Fivemiletown take on a Lee Fenney managed Banbridge Rangers at a refurbished Valley Stadium and Robinson is hoping that the team can be up there challenging throughout the season.
“We have had a great pre-season and there is a real buzz about the club but we know it is imperative to get something out of Saturday. It will not be a disaster if we do not, there is a long way to go, but we want to build on the momentum that we have so far,” said Scott who will be assisted by former Ballinamallard player Andy Carleton with Micky Curry joining from Enniskillen Town as first team coach.
Robinson has strengthened the team considerably with the likes of Davy Little, Kane Connor, Matty Quinn, Adam McDonald, Matty Callaghan and  Malachy McLoughlin among those joining the likes of Ricki Carroll, Chris McDowell and Jason Gillespie.
It is a mix that Robinson feels should be challenging at the top end of the table.
“I suppose, in our first year, we would like to make the top four and maybe win some silverware. I think the league is really strong this year, there seem to be a few clubs up the country bringing in top managers so it could be quite a challenge but that is our aim. There are seven competitions to compete in and the committee asked if we wanted to pull out of anything but we said no, boys want silverware so we will give it a good go in all and if we can pick up silverware then well and good. Players play football to win,” said Scott before adding.
“Davy McQuigg and the committee have put in a lot of work and we had great crowds attending the Coffey Cup final and the game against Dungannon on Monday night, so we want to get a few results together.
“The club has been a bit of  sleeping giant in recent years and we want to get back to winning games and get the support of the local community back out behind the team. That start on Saturday and everybody is really looking forward to it,” concluded the Fivemiletown manager.
