Enniskillen Town 3 Magheraveely 2

For the third league game in a row Enniskillen Town boss Rory Judge watched his side throw away a two goal lead only to come up with a late winner as they maintained their 100 per cent start to the season with a 3-2 win over Division One newcomers Magheraveely.
Judge admits his side were far from their best on Saturday as they let a two goal lead slip and then missed a penalty when it was 2-2.
But with seven minutes to go captain Frank Wallace popped up with a well taken effort to ensure that Town picked up the three points.
“We were really poor and nothing really went for us on the day if I’m telling the truth,” said Judge. “If Magheraveely maybe had a bit more belief in themselves they probably would have taken something out of the game so we’re pleased to just get the win. To get three points when playing poorly, you would take it all day long and it keeps our good start to the season going.”
Magheraveely’s defeat leaves them without a point although they have had a difficult run of games to begin the season, their opening three encounters seeing them take on Lisbellaw, Strathroy and Town.
“It has been a tough start with what I would feel are three of the four big guns in the opening three games. I think those three will all be up there along with Enniskillen Rangers this season. Hopefully now we can start to pick up points and the key games for us are going to be the ones against the teams around us,” said Magheraveely’s Rodney McVitty. “I thought that this was an improvement on the Strathroy game and we would have felt we deserved something from the game.”
The first half was a slow burner with Town shading things but rarely threatening the visitors goal.
However, the one true bit of quality that they did produce in the first half resulted in Judge’s side taking the lead. Thomas Owens clipped over a good cross and Johnny Hoy produced a neat first time finish to give Town the advantage at the midway stage of the first half.
Magheraveely worked hard in the first half but they offered little going forward themselves in the first period although Warren Stewart did have a chance to bag an equaliser when he got on the end of a Paul Elliott header but his shot was saved by Mattie McGrade in the home goal as it remained 1-0 at the interval.
Both sides did show signs of improvement in the second half and it was the home side who went on to double their lead in the 55th minute. Mark Little played in Wallace and he beat goalkeeper Robert Wiggins with a stinging shot at the near post to make it 2-0.
At this stage Town looked to be well in control but then back came Magheraveely. Town felt that the away side were awarded a soft free kick but from the resultant set piece Joe Williamson stepped up and rifled it to the corner of the net, giving McGrade no chance, to bring Magheraveely right back into the contest.
And soon after the sides were back on level terms. McGrade made a save from George Williamson but the ball rebounded to Williamson and he laid it back into the path of Andy lIttle who produced a first time chip over McGrade for 2-2.
With their tails up Magheraveely threatened a third but Waren Stewart’s chip bounced back off the post while McGrade made a save from Little.
Town though regained control of matters after this and were given the ideal chance to move back in front when they were awarded a penalty but it looked as if it would not be their day when Conor Tummon failed to convert.
However, late goals is becoming something of a speciality for Town this season and with 83 minutes on the clock Wallace popped up to fire home for 3-2.
And with Magheraveely pushing for an equaliser Ryan Hanna had a great chance to bag a fourth when he was set up by Ciaran Brough but he missed at the back post.
Town though held on for the win and they will be hoping to maintain their fine start to the campaign when they travel to Kesh on Saturday.
