Lisnaskea Rovers 4 Omagh Hospitals 1 Lisnaskea Rovers made it 12 wins from 13 games as they reaffirmed their position at the top of division two with a 4-1 victory over Omagh Hospitals.

A hat-trick from Andy Little maintained their five point gap over Mountjoy, but with the Omagh side having two games in hand this weekend’s clash between the pair could prove decisive in the title race.

“It was another good win,” said manager Darren Graham.

“It was hard fought but I think we deserved it in the end, although they did put it up to us. It was an all-round team performance. Absolutely brilliant from every one of them. Even the boys who came off the bench played their part. It’s all about the squad and this squad at the minute have all been champing at the bit and keeping everyone on their toes.

“We have Mountjoy this weekend which is going to be a big, big game. A top of the table clash. They boys are well up for it and we are hopefully going with a full squad, so things are looking OK at the minute.”

Lisnaskea’s one defeat in the league this season came at the hands of Omagh Hospitals back in October, and after 20 minutes it looked as though another upset might be on the cards when the away side took the lead against the run of play.

Rovers’ had started the game well and looked threatening in attack, with Andy Little and Brian McDermott not quite able to make the most of good opportunities. Johnny Reilly also saw a shot fly narrowly wide of the post, but Omagh Hospitals responded with a goal of their own to take a surprise lead after 20 minutes.

Just before half time Rovers levelled the match when an Andy Little cross was headed into the net by Johnny Reilly.

There was little to separate the sides after the opening second half exchanges, but the decisive moment of the match arrived after 55 minutes when Andy Little struck a low shot that crept inside the post. Rovers started to take control of the game after this Little goal, and with Ryan Carson coming off the bench to strengthen the midfield they put the result beyond doubt with two similar goals from Little.

On both occasions he cut in from left wing and fired into the top corner in the final half hour to seal the win for the league leaders and move them ever closer to a return to the top flight.
