The third and final match in the Waterways Ireland Junior Classic series took place on the River Erne at the Lakeland Forum on Saturday.

Low water conditions, a sharp overnight frost and very cold winds resulted in low catches of mainly small fish, in this 2.5 hour event.

The 21 anglers were pegged on the sheltered sections around the town.

Individual winner in the Senior section was James O Doherty (Erne integrated) 0.970kgs, James was drawn on the Cornagrade section and caught mainly small roach on the pole at peg five.

Runner-up was Jordan Hall (Southwest College) 0.550kgs, who won the section at Bellanaleck Marina with mainly small fish on the feeder. In third place was Dale Hall (Lisnaskea High School) with roach on the feeder for 0.340kgs to win the Ardhowen section.

Winner of the junior age group was Adam Maguire (St Comhghall's, Lisnaskea) 0.520Kgs, to win the section on the Police Station Jetty. Runner up was Harry Whitehead (Portora) 0.490Kgs, which was second in the section on the Police Jetty. In third place was Nathan Gauley (Lisnaskea High School) 0.220Kgs, which was third place in the section on Cornagrade. The Erne Anglers Junior team won the team event on the day with 5 points.

The schools team event was won by Lisnaskea High School A Team with 7 points, runner up were Portora on 9 points.

As this was the final match the overall results were calculated and prizes were awarded as follows.

He also thanked the six coaches from the Erne Anglers AC who coached the Juniors over the three days in very difficult conditions.

Due to the extreme conditions it is planned to move the 2014 event to April of May.
