A large crowd of ERC senior athletes, junior athletes, friends and family gathered at Cafe Merlot in Enniskillen on Saturday evening for the ERC Annual Awards dinner and presentation. This was an excellent social evening for the Club and was an opportunity to recognise the many fantastic achievements of the Club and its athletes over the past year. Prize-winners were presented with Belleek Pottery trophies.

In the inaugural Club Championship, were Athletes scored points over a range of various distance races throughout the year and at selected local races, the final standings were as follows: - Male Open: 1st David Somerville, 2nd James Johnston. Female Open: 1st Denise McElroy, 2nd Rebecca McKenzie. Male 40: 1st Eamon Monaghan, 2nd Stephen Clawson. Female 40: 1st Karen Dolan, 2nd Sandra Wilson. Male 50: 1st Martin Carey, 2nd Desmond Elton.

The Club also presented awards to those athletes who have shown the best improvement in running ability over the last year. As is often the case, this award proves very difficult to decide upon as the ability of all its athletes continues to surge from strength to strength. In the male category, Ciaran McSherry and John McDonnell were joint winners. In the female category Sandra Barnett andLinda Walsh were joint winners.

The Male Athlete of the Year award was presented to Fergus McGirr with Tara Malone awarded the Female Athlete of the Year. The main award of the evening, Overall Club Athlete of the Year, which recognised not only athletic endeavours but sportsmanship and work within the Club, was presented to Denise McElroy.

Enniskillen Running Club continues to welcome new members each week. All levels of ability are catered for at the Club’s main weekly session on Monday evenings.
