Sam Gamble has been named as the Fermanagh Milk Cup Junior manager for 2015.

Gamble, who has been involved with the Fermanagh Milk Cup as a member of the committee in recent years, is delighted to have got the nod to lead the Junior squad into the prestigious tournament and he has a good insight into this particular age having coached the 2000 age group for a number of years at Ballinamallard.

“I have been an ardent supporter of the Fermanagh Milk Cup and the Milk Cup since I first attended the tournament in 1994,” he said. “It has always been an ambition of mine to coach my county at the tournament and when I was given the post I was absolutely delighted.

This is obviously my first active coaching role within the county, but I have good experience working in the National League and the Irish League with Ballinamallard.” The Milk Cup has been the launchpad for plenty of young players’ careers and Gamble can’t wait to get down to work.

“This tournament excites me every year, as it gives so many wonderful opportunities to players in the county and I really can’t wait to get started and start working with the players.” Gamble says that he will be looking to bring a professional approach to proceedings.

“With regards to how I will approach the Junior campaign, I will be adopting a professional setup from the start and no stone will be left unturned in my preparations.

“I will be bringing a professional attitude to training and want to create a professional environment and I have no doubt that the boys will enjoy working in this sort of environment,” he commented.

And he has urged any player who feels they have the ability to make the squad, to come out and attend trials.

“With regards to the players in the County, I really hope that every player who feels they are capable of playing in this fantastic tournament will put themselves forward for trials and I know that there is a strong group of 2000s players in County Fermanagh.” Looking further ahead then to the Milk Cup, he added: “I will be ensuring we are incredibly well-organised from back to front, I will be looking for good team performances and leaders throughout my team, with emphasis on playing attractive attacking football and making sure we are rock solid in defence.” The new Junior manager has appointed Adam Poots as his goalkeeping coach and hopes to confirm the make up of the remainder of the backroom team in the near future.
