Enniskillen’s fourth game of the season was at home against a very experienced Annadale team on Saturday. It finished in a 3-2 defeat for the home side. A disappointing result considering the great start Enniskillen made to the match.

Annadale started the game on the front foot, pushing forward in numbers although the Enniskillen defence, well marshalled at sweeper by McKee and the returning Nicki Love, dealt well with the pressure. Enniskillen then stunned the away team, not once but twice, with two quick goals on the break. Both goals where a mirror image of each other with Cathcart and Hutchinson swapping passes in the middle of the pitch and playing a through ball down the left wing for Susan Surplis to slot home both times to put Enniskillen two up. Annadale continued to push forward for the remainder of the first half and unfortunately for Enniskillen they got the encouragement of a goal back in the last minute before the break to make it 2-1 at half time.

Given a lifeline of a goal back, Annadale came out in the second half with real determination to push on. Some brilliant tracking back from Dane, McClean and Hutchinson continued to frustrate but finally the equaliser came. Enniskillen continued to hold their own after that but the Annadale third came with five minutes to go. The first goal Enniskillen had conceded from a penalty corner this season. A disappointed home team kept plugging away to the end looking for a deserved equaliser but this left them open at the back but the brilliance of Eagleson in goal stopped a certain fourth goal for Annadale in the final minute.

Enniskillen would like to thank Janet Love for umpiring and congratulate player of the match Kathryn Dane. Next week’s match is home to Kilkeel, 3pm at Bawnacre, Irvinestown.
