The Enniskillen Motorcycle and District Club have asked documentary film makers Colin and Alwyn James to make a programme to honour the racing career of local star Richard Britton.

The Club commented: “We are delighted that the James brothers have agreed to come out of retirement and make this programme. Richard was universally admired and loved and it is important that his career is honoured in this way.” Alwyn, who is now based in Kesh, was a pioneer of motorcycle documentary films and one of the first to have a camera on a racing bike in 1974.

With his brother Colin in recent years they made such famous programmes as ‘Joey Dunlop Remembered’ and ‘How the North West was Won’ for BBC NI.

Richard was a much loved and successful racer with many achievements under his belt. Among his many successes were four Regal 600 Championships.

He had a NW200 win in 2000 in the Production race. In 2002 Richard was the fastest Irishman to lap the IOM TT circuit. The film on Richard will be premiered at the end of November in Enniskillen.
