Enniskillen rider Melissa Kennedy returned to the SGS Armoy Road Races after her accident in 2014. Riding the KN Racing sponsored 125 Honda, she had a decent qualifying session on Friday afternoon. Unfortunately race day didn’t go quite according to plan as she was forced to retire on the second lap of the race due to an electrical problem. The race was won by Magherafelt’s Paul Jordan.

Paul Gartland also hadn’t the best of weekends at Armoy.

The Ederney rider’s Kawasaki ZX10 had a mechanical fault in practice which meant he wasn’t able to qualify for either of Saturday’s Superbike races.

He then had issues with the clutch on his Supertwin machine, which left him well down the field in qualifying.

Paul managed to get the bike to the starting line on race day after the team worked tirelessly on Friday night to solve the problem, however the clutch expired on the warm-up lap.

That left Paul with only the Supersport 400 race.

A good run on Friday saw him qualify in a great sixth place on the grid. Things got even better as the race got underway, and with some hard riding, he fought his way up to fourth place, but it wasn’t to be his weekend. The gremlins struck once again, when his fuel pump packed in on lap four forcing him to retire.

Both Melissa and Paul will be hoping to get everything sorted for the upcoming Dundrod 150 and Ulster Grand Prix events.
