There was success for Portora Boat club members at the Home International Regatta which was held at Strathclyde Watersports Centre, Scotland on Saturday.

The boat club members were representing Ireland against the other home nations, England, Scotland and Wales during a day of intense competition.

Needless to say the local rowers were up to the task. James Foster, Euan Gebler, Ryan Ballantine and Sam Armstrong won the Junior 4- and were then part of the Junior 8 that also won.

Indeed, it completes a remarkable couple of weeks for these Portora rowers who also dominated at the Irish Rowing Championships.

There was also international recognition in the ladies section with Lydia Mulligan, Mia-Jayne Elliott, Sophie O’Dolan and Alice Beacom with cox Chloe McClean representing Ireland in the Women’s junior 8 crew but they had to settle for second and the silver medal. The girls and cox Chloe also represented Ireland in separate fours but had to settle for a second and third place, nevertheless it was a top class weekend for the all the local rowers.
