The Fermanagh Lakeland Forum played host to the Enniskillen Lakelanders last group AquaSprint for the season. Only a win against Kilkeel would assure a top three position in Division D offering entry into the promotion gala on Friday June 6.

The atmosphere was electric at the poolside as the youngest swimmers commenced proceedings with a one second victory after the four lengths of the Medley Relay. Wins by the older groups gave the home team a successful start to the evening.

Group A, those born in 2005, proved fruitful for Ellie McCartney who, once again, won all four of her races as well as victories in both relays. Sophie Stewart secured a second place in breaststroke and third in frontcrawl.

Louie Burns dominated his group with first places in breaststroke, butterfly and frontcrawl. Matthew Dolan also performed well with three second places and a third place. They also secured wins in the Group D relay. Patrick Williams and Callum O’Hare achieved personal bests in their events.

Caitlin O’Hare secured four first places in her events and a victory in the frontcrawl relay alongside Sophia Williams, Reece Holmes and Jason Mann. Sophia also got on to the podium in breaststroke and Anna Gillespie raced to a second place in the butterfly. Enya Stewart swam exceptionally well to be placed third in froncrawl. Jason Mann came out on top after his frontcrawl race and Rowan Martin achieved a third place in backstroke. Reece Holmes continued his great performances with a second and a third in breaststroke and frontcrawl respectively.

Niamh O’Kane achieved success in butterfly and frontcrawl as well as the relays in Group C, while Maebh Dolan took the honours in backstroke and second in frontcrawl. Ellie Livingston and Lauren Fitzpatrick took second and third in breaststroke. Ellie also came second in the butterfly event.

Another top performer was Dara Flanagan with two firsts, a second and third.

Following a recent injury Oisin McManus secured two second places alongside Michael McDonald’s third place in butterfly. Both Group C relays were successful.

In the oldest group, D, Laura McCaffrey and Caitlin Love achieved two victories each. Rhiannon Dolan came second in breaststroke and third in backstroke. Amy O’Reilly came runner-up in the butterfly.

Peter Dolan dominated the boys’ section with four personal wins and two relay victories.

James O’Donnell backed the Lakelanders dominance up in this section with two second places in backstroke and frontcrawl and a third place in breaststroke. Lewis McCartney managed a second place in butterfly. Overall, the Enniskillen Lakelanders won 245 points against Kilkeel’s 155 points. A great night was had by all as the home side showed their strength which is a testament to the hard work put into the club by the coaching committee and all the volunteers.
