A NIGHT of gospel music has been organised tomorrow (Friday) in Lisbellaw Methodist Church Hall to raise money for a three-week mission to the Philippines.

Kathleen Coulter from Tempo will journey to the city of Olongapo next June with Christian organisation, Helping Hands Healing Hearts to work with sick children out there.

A member of the Lakeland Church Fellowship on Henry Street, she is hoping she can “change lives” during her trip next year.

Helping Hands Healing Hearts offers practical, emotional, spiritual and financial assistance towards children recovering from illness both while they are in hospital and upon their.

The residential and community based charity’s goal is that children and families will come to know Christ It is based in a local city government hospital and operates two children’s recovery units which house up to 25 children at a time.

A carer for her husband, Bobby, Kathleen says the trip will fulfil a life-long ambition.

“I want to go out there and touch lives,” she says, “I’m a personal carer for my husband -- I have always been a carer.

“This is something I have always wanted to do.

“I grew up with the Salvation Army and was touched by their work.

“Now I feel I want to give something back and help to rescue children from the brink of death. This is something I have always wanted to do but I have never had the opportunity before.” The gospel concert this weekend features Simple Faith, Bethany Coulter, The Abrahams and Bill Dunn.
